Iqra, who currently lives in Dangiwacha, which is located in North Kashmir, is a daughter of a baker and comes from a humble background.
But she has already represented J&K four times on a national level in places like Amritsar and Goa, and she has won a number of awards and medals for showing proficiency in the sport.

She has been quoted in India Today noting that despite apprehensions from people around her, she has no other goal in her mind. She says, "Earlier I used to play with boys. Now I have a coach. I always find overs - bowled by girls - quite easy to bat. Members from the boys team have asked me to join them, but my mother is apprehensive... This is my dream and I am fortunate that I am living it."
While her dreams remain squarely unchanged, she has suffered a number of setbacks especially during the recent unrest in the region that disrupted daily life and put a stop to her training. But the J&K police have promised to come to her aid in providing her with whatever she needs. That includes a ground to practice on, equipment required to play the game and a cycle for commuting and to maintain fitness.

And now as she tries to solicit support from Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), she has another dream in mind - to meet Virat Kohli, the captain of the Indian cricket team. Here's hoping all her dreams come true.
