Prachi Sukhwani has achieved what tens of thousands of aspirants can only dream of - she has gotten a seat in the coveted Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. But what makes her achievement even more impressive is the fact that she has lost over 80% of her vision. When she was in class 3, Prachi who is now 21 years old, started losing her eyesight due to a degenerative illness called macular dystrophy (which causes the degradation of the retina), that unfortunately has no cure.

But that has never deterred this young woman from going after her dreams.

She appeared for the exams as a person with disability. As it is the case with most driven and successful individuals, Prachi already has her long- and short-term goals sorted. She does one day wish to provide assistance and support to those who are blind. Speaking to the Times of India, she notes, "My short term goal is to join a company, preferably a multinational. Once I get some experience, I will have my own startup. But my long term goal is to open an NGO for the blind." A studious student since she was a child, Prachi also got a call back from IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Kolkata. Ever since news broke that Prachi has secured admission into one of the most difficult management schools in the country, even her college has been flooded with congratulatory notes from people who have all been inspired by this young woman. And she's only getting started, we are sure.
